Who we are
WELCOME AT
Fattoria Casa San Martino
We are located in Umbria on a surface area of 150 hectares, among the municipalities of Gubbio, Pietralunga and Città di Castello. Our family has been raising Chianina cattle and TPR (heavy draft) horses since the beginning of 1900s. The horse, together with a small carriage, was the only means of transport to move from the hill to the village, where a market took place every week. Nowadays, we are carrying on this activity in a modern way, even though always in a sustainable way, respecting our territory, of which we are jealous guardians. Our breeding and all cereal crops and fodder are on the hills, this ensures that the marginal areas aren’t abandoned and are always monitored by those who live there and know them. We work not only for the wellbeing of our animals, but also for the protection of our hills, of which we are careful controllers.

Ancient breed already present in Umbria at the Etruscan times, 22 centuries ago.

Ceccagnoli Alberta
Our activity of breeders of purebred cattle Chianina PGI is linked to our past and surely to our DNA. Over the years we have always worked for the genetic improvement and now we can boast splendid specimens of the breed. Our bulls have been chosen for the genetic centre and we also sell life-long heifers. On our farm we produce cereals and hill hay to feed our animals in the best possible way and give the consumer a high-quality meat. The Chianina meat is known all over the world for its high organoleptic characteristics, and the reason is that in the central Apennines, where the PGI label is recognised by the European Community, the food is controlled by very strict disciplinary regulations.
From the producer to the consumer in our factory’s butcher’s shop, upon reservation, you can buy family packs.
